Sega Amusements has revealed an early glimpse of House of the Dead Reawakened, a new virtual-reality arcade entry in its long-running horror shooter series. The game is scheduled to appear at IAAPA Expo 2026 in November, although detailed information remains limited.
House of the Dead Reawakened gets its first teaser
At midday in the UK, Sega Amusements published a 30-second teaser showing only brief views of the upcoming attraction. The footage points towards a gothic-styled arcade cabinet with a vertical display and two tethered VR guns.
That hardware arrangement appears similar to the VR shooting equipment used for VR Agent, Sega Amusements’ 2022 collaboration with 3MindWave. You can watch the 2022 release VR Agent for a useful comparison.
The teaser ends with the line “Something is reawakening”, followed by confirmation that the game will be shown at IAAPA 2026.

A new VR chapter for Sega’s horror shooter
The cabinet imagery and supernatural setting strongly suggested a new House of the Dead project. That reading was reinforced when Sega Amusements’ website began displaying a page for House of the Dead Reawakened. At the time of writing, the page offers only a cryptic indication that more information is to come.

An industry report also named the game and linked to Sega’s page, suggesting that the project may run on Unreal Engine 5. It is possible that additional details were briefly visible when the page first appeared, before being withdrawn. That engine reference and the game’s final specifications should therefore be treated as unconfirmed until Sega publishes more information.
Could VR suit The House of the Dead?
Adapting the traditional light-gun format for virtual reality could be a natural direction for the series. A VR version could build on the type of arcade shooting experience seen in VR Agent, while bringing Sega’s zombies, haunted locations and fast reactions into a more immersive cabinet.
Cost will be an important consideration for operators. A substantial VR attraction is likely to sit at the premium end of the arcade market, although the previous series entry, House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn, was also an expensive game.
IAAPA 2026 zombie-shooter competition
House of the Dead Reawakened will share the IAAPA 2026 spotlight with Bandai Namco’s Resident Evil 2: Arcade. Their presence at the same event could create an interesting contest between two major zombie-themed light-gun franchises.
