October brings cooler weather, pumpkins and plenty of horror entertainment, but PlayStation’s latest monthly lineup is surprisingly light on genuine scares.
On September 30, PlayStation revealed October’s monthly games for subscribers on every PS Plus tier. The three titles can be added to your library from October 6. Once claimed, they remain available to install and play while you have an active PS Plus Essential, Extra or Premium subscription.
October’s PS Plus monthly games
- F1 25 — PS5
- Hunt: Showdown 1896 — PS5
- Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 — PS4 and PS5
These games are available to claim until November 2. A new, currently unannounced selection will replace them after that date.
Where are the Halloween games?
Hunt: Showdown 1896 is the only October inclusion with an obvious spooky connection. The PvPvE multiplayer shooter sends players into eerie swamps and wooded areas to battle supernatural enemies, while also competing against other hunters.
That makes it a reasonable seasonal choice, although the lineup otherwise avoids horror almost completely. F1 25 is a substantial racing game, but its biggest shocks are more likely to come from close competition than anything supernatural. Fans looking for racing hardware can explore RETROCADE’s racing simulator range.
Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 is a blocky spin-off in the long-running action series. Its giant insects and alien threats may be dangerous, but the game is hardly a Halloween-themed frightfest.
A chance to try Hunt: Showdown
Hunt: Showdown 1896 is the standout for players who have been curious about the game but reluctant to purchase it without knowing whether friends would join them. Its inclusion gives groups an easy opportunity to try the tense multiplayer shooter together, with zombies and rival hunters waiting in the murky wilderness.

Do not miss September’s games
September’s PS Plus additions remain available until October 5. Subscribers should claim Sniper Elite: Resistance, MLB The Show 26, Wobbly Life and Chained Echoes before they leave the monthly lineup.
