Pokémon Oops! All Eevees Brings 326 Evolutions to FireRed

Eevee fans have eight official evolutions to choose from, but the wait for a new one has become increasingly long. The most recent addition arrived in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y 13 years ago. With 18 standard Pokémon types available, fewer than half have an official Eevee evolution, before even considering combinations of different types.

While Pokémon Winds and Waves could eventually add another Eevee evolution, its release does not appear to be close. In the meantime, Pokémon Oops! All Eevees offers a substantial fan-made alternative for players who want far more Eevee variety.

A FireRed adventure filled with Eevee designs

This is more than a simple character swap. The creator, 999999999, has replaced every monster in the base Pokémon FireRed experience with an Eeveelution while also creating a large collection of new designs.

Among the additions are Fanteon, a Ghost-type Eevee; Aeraerieon, a Flying-type design; and Aercampeon, which uses the Fighting type. The project also revisits types already represented by official Eeveelutions, with many of its original creatures receiving their own evolution lines.

326 Eeveelutions and a new endgame

In total, Oops! All Eevees adds 326 Eeveelutions to the FireRed foundation. A video showcasing the available creatures runs for almost 40 minutes, giving some idea of the project’s scale.

The existing Eeveelutions receive expanded movesets, while plentiful Rare Candies allow players to avoid much of the usual levelling grind. There is also a new endgame designed to test the player’s knowledge of Eevee and its many forms.

The fan game extends its theme beyond battles. Trainer outfits can make the player look like an Eeveelution, and an in-game feature allows the player character to “evolve” themselves.

More content is planned

The current release is not necessarily the final version. 999999999 has announced an update planned for Nov. 21, which is Eevee Day in Japan. That update is expected to add further Pokédex entries and more overworld sprites.

The developer has also hinted at secret Eevees hidden in locations such as beneath the Truck and inside Cerulean Cave. Another tease describes an “Eevee god” capable of using every elemental type at once—and it is reportedly not the final boss.

Why it stands out for Eevee fans

Player reactions have been strongly positive, with one fan describing Oops! All Eevees as “everything I’ve ever wanted”. Other fans have already started creating fan art for the Eevee-themed game.

The project is available through the PokéCommunity forums. For readers who enjoy exploring unusual retro projects, the concept also fits neatly alongside RETROCADE’s arcade news and features, arcade video collection and compact bartop arcade machines.
