Reset items let you reclaim every point invested in your weapons and talents, while also changing your combat abilities in Control Resonant. Weapons, combat abilities and talents are separate systems, so resetting a complete build requires three items.
That makes early choices worth considering, but there are several ways to collect more reset items as you progress through the Gap.
Where to find reset items
There are four confirmed sources:
- Buy one from a vendor.
- Defeat an altered vending machine.
- Defeat a resonant boss.
- Set the highest score on an arcade machine.
Buy reset items from vendors
Vendors are the most reliable option. Each vendor stocks one reset item at every vendor level, allowing you to purchase three items from an individual vendor once that vendor has reached the required levels.

Defeat altered vending machines
Some vending machines are altered items. Strike one when you find it and it will flee, beginning a chase that ends only when you defeat it. The reward includes a reset item.
These encounters can become dangerous because the machine may run towards groups of enemies. Clear the nearby area before starting the chase whenever possible.
Altered vending machines are harder to track down because they are not marked on the map, and not every machine is hostile. However, at least one can be found in every area, so watch for isolated vending machines in the streets.
Defeat resonant bosses
Resonant bosses reward a reset item after you defeat them and leave the Gap. Most are marked on the map, so locating them usually does not require a separate search.
The drawback is their difficulty. Resonants are the boss encounters of Control Resonant, and you may be looking for reset items precisely because your current weapons, abilities or talents are not suited to the fight.
Set the high score on arcade machines
Arcade machines are the most demanding source. They unlock as you level up a zone and present challenging activities such as defeating enemies, protecting cargo and completing parkour courses against the clock.
To earn the reset item, you must achieve the machine’s highest score. Some challenges are especially difficult when your build power is low, so leaving them until later is sensible.

Best approach for collecting three items
For a complete reset, begin with vendors and level the relevant zones through normal exploration, combat and quests. Keep an eye out for lone vending machines, then return to resonant bosses and arcade machines when your build is stronger.
Remember that one reset item applies to one system. You need three items to simultaneously start over with your weapons, combat abilities and talents.
