Blizzard Entertainment and CD Projekt Red used this year’s BlizzCon to announce two crossovers planned for 2027: a Geralt-inspired cosmetic for Diablo 4 and a Cyberpunk: Edgerunners collaboration for Overwatch. The developers also explained why each partnership took its particular form.

Why Geralt is being represented by Diablo 4’s Barbarian
Geralt will not appear as a separate character in Diablo 4. Instead, the game will receive a cosmetic based on the Witcher for its Barbarian class. CD Projekt Red level design lead Miles Tost said the choice followed extensive creative discussion between the two teams.
The Barbarian was selected because the class reflects several important aspects of Geralt’s character. Both rely heavily on physical skill, extensive weapons training and practical knowledge, while using comparatively little magic. The Barbarian’s weapon-swapping system also evokes a Witcher’s preparation: choosing the right tool for a specific threat.
The cosmetic will be bundled with pre-orders of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past purchased through Battle.net. The expansion is scheduled to launch sometime in 2027. CD Projekt Red has also indicated that further content may be planned for the Diablo 4 partnership during that year.

Why Overwatch is starting with Edgerunners
Overwatch will receive cosmetics inspired by David from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and Talia from the upcoming Edgerunners 2. The anime is a natural fit for Blizzard’s hero shooter, which has previously crossed over with anime properties including One Punch Man.
The initial collaboration will not use characters from Cyberpunk 2077, meaning players should not expect a Johnny Silverhand cosmetic at this stage. CD Projekt Red community and social media manager Amelia Korzycka said the decision reflected both existing fan interest in an Edgerunners crossover and the approaching release of the second season.
She explained that social media feedback had repeatedly called for either a Cyberpunk or Edgerunners partnership with Overwatch. For now, the anime offers the stronger starting point, with a new group of Night City characters arriving as Edgerunners 2 approaches.
Could Cyberpunk 2077 still cross over later?
Both studios left the possibility open. Korzycka said the teams wanted to introduce Edgerunners first and then assess what comes next. Blizzard product vice-president Andrew Guerrero added that a strongly positive response from players could lead to other crossover ideas.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is scheduled to arrive on Netflix on 20 October, while the Overwatch collaboration is planned for 2027.
