Prison Break is returning with a new spin-off. Hulu has revealed an early look at Prison Break: Black Creek, which is set in the same fictional universe as the original series and is currently in production.

The new series is expected to arrive on Hulu and Disney+ at a later date, although no specific release date has been announced. The first teaser offers limited plot detail, but the story will centre on Black Creek Penitentiary, described as one of America’s deadliest prisons.
Hulu’s series description, reported by Deadline, follows a soldier-turned-corrections officer who accepts a job at the prison to discover how far she will go for someone she loves.

Who is making Black Creek?
Mayans M.C. and The Outlaws creator Elgin James is serving as showrunner and will also direct. Vanessa Joy Smith is handling cinematography.
Dawn Olmstead, an executive producer on the original Prison Break, is returning in the same capacity. Disney-owned 20th Television is producing the series.
The announced cast includes Drake Rodger as Tommy, Clayton Cardenas as Michael “Ghost”, JR Bourne as Junior, Georgie Flores as Andrea and Myles Bullock as Darius “Red”. Noah Emmerich will play Callum Faulls, a West Virginia power broker.

How the original Prison Break began
The original Prison Break debuted in 2005 and ran until 2009 before returning for another season in 2017. Its central story followed brothers Lincoln Burrows and Michael Scofield.
Lincoln is sentenced to death for a crime he did not commit, prompting Michael to create an intricate plan to break him out of prison. The show became a major success and ran for 90 episodes, although its later departures from that initial escape-focused premise divided some viewers.
Black Creek will revisit the franchise’s prison setting with a new cast and story. For more entertainment and gaming updates, visit the RETROCADE Arcade Blog, or explore the arcade machine collection and compact bartop arcades.
