With GTA VI still a few months away, GTA V modders continue finding new ways to reshape Los Santos. WTTDOTM’s latest project places 235 working Flock licence-plate cameras throughout the city, turning surveillance into a target for destruction.

The Grand Theft Automated License Plate Reader mod is designed to behave much like the real-world systems it represents. As players travel around the map, cameras photograph vehicles entering their detection zones. A video of the project, shared by FRVR, demonstrates the system in action.

Surveillance with an unpredictable police response

Every camera encounter carries a one-in-20 chance of starting a police chase without any player wrongdoing. The random trigger is intended to reflect concerns about the technology’s own history of inaccurate reporting.

Rather than simply making Los Santos feel more heavily monitored, the mod gives players a direct solution: smash the cameras. Cars, rocket launchers, tanks and other forms of destructive hardware can all be used to remove them from the streets.

Turning camera destruction into a challenge

The project adds game mechanics beyond straightforward vandalism. Players can use the cameras to record stunts, collect parts from destroyed units for quick cash and compete in a speedrun mode that measures how quickly they can clear the city.

WTTDOTM discussed the scale of the project in a TikTok video, noting that the 235 cameras in the mod represent roughly one-tenth of the number installed in Los Angeles County, the real-world area that inspires Los Santos.
