In Onimusha: Way of the Sword, the optional “Ace Archer: Nijo-jo Castle” mission sends Musashi after five airborne Kubi Akari. The request comes from a man near the Gojo Street – West Spirit Mirror, who asks you to eliminate the flying genma haunting Nijo-jo Castle.
Musashi’s special bow is required for this task. The targets can be difficult to spot because most sit beyond the map’s normal explorable spaces. This guide lists all five positions and explains where to stand before taking the shot.

All five Kubi Akari locations in Nijo-jo Castle
The mission marks the general areas with notebook icons, but those symbols do not show the exact firing position. Look for the star position in each guide image, then aim at the enemy highlighted in the corresponding location.
Kubi Akari 1
Begin at the Nijo-jo Castle Entrance Spirit Mirror on the southern side of the map. Face the bridge and watch the buildings and trees ahead. The first Kubi Akari flies between them, above the rooftops. If it is not immediately visible, wait briefly because the trees can obscure it.
Kubi Akari 2
The second notebook icon appears over the same bridge, but the target is underneath it. Walk forward from the bridge, turn right, and move to the right-hand side of the street. From between the stalls, look southeast towards the bridge. This angle gives you both a clear view and enough range to fire.
Kubi Akari 3
Continue north towards the area beside the bridge. On the right side of the street, climb the ladder. From the higher position, look west across the buildings to reveal the third flying genma and line up your shot.
Kubi Akari 4
Keep heading north and use the ramp to reach the roof. Do not turn left to leave the building. Instead, remain at the roof’s corner and face north. The fourth Kubi Akari circles nearby, close to another genma.
Kubi Akari 5
For the final target, travel to the Nue Pond Spirit Mirror in the northern section of the map. Go south until you reach a gate, then use the ladder beside it to access the platform. From there, look towards the corner of the building on the right. The Kubi Akari is tucked between the walls and can only be hit from this platform.
