Doctor Doom is returning to the spotlight in 2026, with a new paid expansion for the retro-style brawler MARVEL Cosmic Invasion. The DLC, titled The Siege of Castle Doom, is scheduled for release in Australian spring 2026.
The Siege of Castle Doom brings a new mode
Developer Tribute Games and publisher Dotemu have announced The Siege of Castle Doom, an expansion built around Marvel’s iconic villain. The add-on will introduce an entirely new game mode and two additional playable characters.
The teams have not yet revealed the identities of those characters. They have also not confirmed whether Doctor Doom himself will be playable, leaving important details about the expansion still under wraps.
The announcement arrives during a busy period for Doom. Robert Downey Jr. is set to portray the character in Avengers: Doomsday, due in cinemas in December, while Doom has also recently led a team of fighters in MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls.
A second DLC release for Marvel Cosmic Invasion
The Siege of Castle Doom will be the second downloadable content release for MARVEL Cosmic Invasion. Earlier in the summer, a character pack added Cyclops and The Thing to the side-scrolling action game.
Those heroes joined an existing line-up that includes well-known Marvel favourites such as Spider-Man and Wolverine, alongside less frequently featured characters including Phyla-Vell and Beta Ray Bill.
For players comparing the game with classic co-op brawlers, its OpenCritic listing currently records an 84% Critics Recommend score. The game has been well received for its approachable combat and replay value, with cooperative play a natural fit for its arcade-inspired design.
Platforms and release window
MARVEL Cosmic Invasion: The Siege of Castle Doom is planned for release in Australian spring 2026 on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X.
Tribute Games and Dotemu have not announced an exact launch date or pricing for the paid DLC.
