Sarah J. Maas’ A Court of Thorns and Roses is moving from bestseller lists and BookTok discussions to the tabletop. Goliath Games is developing an original strategy game based on the romantasy series.
A Court of Thorns and Roses: Fate and Favor is scheduled for release in October 2026 at $24.99. A Target-exclusive edition and a separate bookseller version are also planned.
Seven Courts, shifting alliances
The game is designed around the political rivalries of Prythian rather than simply applying the series’ artwork to an existing tabletop system. Each player takes the role of a High Lord or High Lady representing one of the realm’s seven Courts.
- Players compete as representatives of the Night, Day, Dawn, Winter, Summer, Spring or Autumn Court.
- The game supports up to seven players.

Goliath Games has not yet published the complete rules. Early details point to familiar characters, locations and events, with preview material showing Elain, Lucien and Cresseida. Court powers, character abilities, event cards and “shifting fate tokens” will all influence the contest.
That description suggests a lighter social strategy game focused on negotiation and influence, rather than a large-scale fantasy war game. The design may suit groups who enjoy discussing allegiances as much as managing resources.
Another romantasy adaptation from Goliath
Fate and Favor is not Goliath’s first tabletop adaptation of a major romantasy property. The publisher also produces Fourth Wing: Rise of the Wingleader, based on Rebecca Yarros’ Empyrean novels.
In that game, players attend Basgiath War College and compete for prestige in the Riders Quadrant. The two releases position Goliath within the growing market for licensed fantasy and romantasy tabletop games.
A busy period for Prythian
The board game is due during an especially active period for the book series. Following a five-year wait since A Court of Silver Flames, Maas is scheduled to release two further instalments in quick succession: book 6 on 27 October 2026 and book 7 on 12 January 2027.
The planned Hulu television adaptation has been cancelled, but the series’ screen future may not be finished. Maas revealed earlier in 2026 that she had regained the adaptation rights to her work and wants more creative control over any future version. For now, her stated priority is the books.
