Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe now has a confirmed Netflix release date. The latest instalment in Sunrise’s science-fiction anime trilogy arrives on the streaming service on 31 August 2026, following a new trailer announcement.

The film first opened in Japanese cinemas in January before reaching cinemas in the United States in May. Its Australian streaming availability is tied to the announced Netflix date.

A continuation of Hathaway’s Flash

The trilogy adapts Hathaway’s Flash, a three-volume light-novel series written by Yoshiyuki Tomino between 1989 and 1990. The story takes place in the Universal Century, the main continuity established by the original Mobile Suit Gundam anime in 1979.

More specifically, the novels are set in UC 0105, 26 years after the events of the first Mobile Suit Gundam. That setting gives the films a direct connection to the franchise’s central timeline while moving the story into a later era.

Sunrise’s Gundam film trilogy

Sunrise is adapting the novels as three feature films. The opening chapter, Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway, premiered in June 2021 and is currently available on Netflix.

The first two films have been warmly received, with viewers and critics often identifying the project as an accessible starting point for newcomers to Gundam. Sunrise has not yet announced when the concluding film will arrive, leaving fans waiting for the trilogy’s final chapter.

Who made The Sorcery of Nymph Circe?

Shukou Murase returns as director after leading the previous film. His other directing credits include Ergo Proxy and Witch Hunter Robin. Yasuyuki Muto is again responsible for the screenplay, following work on 100 Meters and Tokyo Revengers.

Storyboard duties were handled by Shinichirou Watanabe, known for Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo. SZA performs the theme song, while Sunrise provides the animation.

More Gundam projects on the way

Although the final Hathaway film has no announced release window, several other projects are keeping the franchise in the spotlight. Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO was revealed in July 2026 as an anime set in an alternate post-apocalyptic world, where Mobile Suit pilots face an alien threat.

The upcoming game Mobile Suit Rogue Orbit is set in the same universe. Its action-focused presentation has been compared to the mechanical combat of Armored Core. Both projects are scheduled for 2027.

Other announced productions include Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom Zero, a prequel to Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom, as well as a live-action Gundam film that has attracted controversy during development.
