Bandai Namco, Shueisha Inc. and Toei Animation Co. have announced the programme for One Piece Day ’26, the annual celebration dedicated to Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates. The event could also bring news about several upcoming projects across the franchise.
What is One Piece Day?
One Piece Day commemorates the manga’s debut in Weekly Shonen Jump on 22 July 1997. The Japan Anniversary Association officially recognised the date as an anniversary in 2017.
Bandai Namco has increasingly marked the occasion with an in-person gathering. This year’s event will be held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba City, Japan. Key sections of the convention will also be streamed, including discussion panels, live music and franchise announcements.
When does the One Piece Day ’26 livestream start?
The free livestream will be available through the official One Piece YouTube channel. It is split across two broadcasts:
- First stream: 21 August at 5:15 a.m. EDT
- Second stream: 22 August at 9:30 p.m. EDT
Australian viewers should check the equivalent local time before the broadcasts, as the published schedule is listed in US Eastern Daylight Time.

What will be shown during One Piece Day?
The announced One Piece Day ’26 programme includes the following:
- The latest One Piece franchise updates, alongside a special announcement for the One Piece Card Game.
- A discussion about the ELBAPH Arc featuring members of the Japanese voice cast.
- Live performances from Hiroshi Kitadani, Maki Otsuki, AiNA THE END and 36km/h.
- The final results of the second Global ONE PIECE Character Popularity Poll, “WORLD TOP 100”. Places 100 to 31 will be announced during the first stream, with the top 30 following in the second.
- “WORLD TOP 100 The King of Guesses”, an interactive prediction campaign available through the ONE PIECE BASE app.
Could there be new One Piece announcements?
The phrase “latest One Piece franchise updates” leaves room for announcements beyond the scheduled programme. At last year’s event, Bandai Namco revealed the One Piece Heroines anime and showed a preview of the second season of Netflix’s live-action adaptation.
The franchise has also produced numerous spin-off films. However, there is still no specific date for the live-action series’ return in 2027. One Piece Day could provide further details about that production or other projects that have already been announced.

There is already plenty in development and production for fans to follow. Toei’s anime is currently airing, while WIT Studio is preparing a remake series.
